The project: A month-long stint of pounding the fields and lanes of Sussex in my hapless and ill-advised attempt to complete a quintessentially English 5k race between two local pubs. Yes, a pint of beer awaits every finisher!

Dear Reader, Iβm running!
In my early forties I had adopted a new identity as a runner, an athlete, a gym bunny. Iβd get up at the crack of dawn every morning to swim at the local pool, I participated in Parkrun every Saturday, I worked out at the gym on an almost-daily basis and ran with the local running club two or three times a week.
I loved it.
And then I hated it.
Iβd thrown myself in too fast and too far. I loved the endorphins but hated the injuries. The injuries, of course, were on me, and were down to my slapdash βI want it all NOWβ approach to my new passion, and no matter how I tried to power through, my βmust try harderβ mantra became a record stuck at βouch, this really hurtsβ.
Well, Iβm running again, and taking things slowly. And, if you like, you can check out my progress by returning to the post youβre reading now. Thereβs an index of links right at the top.
You will notice absolutely no difference to my Substack posting schedule, because Iβm not sending my Jog log ππ» posts by e-mail, nor do they appear on my home page. You wonβt even find them unless you seek them out! Iβll be popping a link at the bottom of my Saturday posts, but apart from that, nothingβs going to change.
But if youβd like to check out my progress and have a giggle with me along the way, you can check out the Jog log ππ» in the following ways:
By clicking on the links listed in the index at the top of this post.
Jog log ππ» posts all have βNextβ and βPreviousβ links at the the bottom, so you can navigate between them directly.By clicking on Jog log ππ» on my navigation bar in the web browser view of Substack.
See you at the finish line!
UPDATE: Bank Holiday Monday, August 28
Love,
Rebecca
