The project: A month-long stint of pounding the fields and lanes of Sussex in my hapless and ill-advised attempt to complete a quintessentially English 5k race between two local pubs. Yes, a pint of beer awaits every finisher!
Dear Reader,
Yesterday I realised that it had been nearly a week since my last run, and I resolved that today would be the day to get back out there.
I wanted a flat(tish) route, tarmac all the way, so I decided on a loop of three of the lanes to the north of the village. Only a couple of hundred metres of it will be on my route come race day, but I’m avoiding the race route until I’ve nailed the ‘keeping going’ thing. Reader, the race is uphill.
It was a glorious morning: the second dry day in a row after weeks of rain, and it was hot.
I set off at a moderate pace, intending to run/walk/run/walk in pretty much equal blocks, and surprised myself by running the whole of the first kilometre. Despite not (yet) having a daily – no, a regular – running practice, it seems that all the YouTube exercise videos, stints on the rowing machine and that long walk on Sunday have all been contributing to my fitness progression.
After ten minutes I’d settled into my stride: my feet felt warm and comfy, my legs wanted to move and my lungs were neither burning nor gasping for air.
After around twenty minutes I stopped underneath these fizzing power lines and imagined my veins were fizzing, too.
‘Ha!’ I told myself. ‘I’m almost fully-charged!’
Love,
Rebecca

Excellent! I’m way behind on these but I get to read a week’s worth now in a few minutes. This post had glorious blue skies and delightful warm weather. Here, winter is waving its flag before it succumbs to spring. A very chilly day. Maybe it’s a good day to try one of your many video recommendations. Hugs and best wishes dear Rebecca.
