The project: A month-long stint of pounding the fields and lanes of Sussex in my hapless and ill-advised attempt to complete a quintessentially English 5k race between two local pubs. Yes, a pint of beer awaits every finisher!

Dear Reader,
This post is less about my 5k run training than my previous Jog log 🏃🏻 posts, because today has been a big day. My insulin pump – nearing the end of its warranty, and the model no longer available – has been replaced with a new one!
I’ve gone from a tubed pump (where the insulin is delivered using a ‘hosepipe’ from the clever box of electronic tricks into a separate cannula in my skin) to tubeless (where the insulin is delivered straight from a reservoir attached directly to my skin and steered by an entirely separate handset).
Well, kind of.
Suffice it to say that this new gadget is very different to the old one, not least the steep learning curve to get to grips with the new style of programming. It’s like changing models of car: with this new pump I haven’t switched from a Ford to a Ford like last time, but from a Ford to a Tesla.
Again, kind of.
With my brain still brimming with too much information, Jim suggested we take our supper to the beach to cook. I’d already prepped our delicious ginger beef noodles earlier in the day, so it was no problem to pop the saucepan into the van to cook them on the gas stove this evening.
Yup, I know this is the jog log, and yes, we notched up nearly 5km along the beach this evening. And you know what? It was perfect.
Wonder if I’ll have the confidence to test my new hardware with a run in the morning? Watch this space…
(No promises!) 🤣
Love,
Rebecca

Best of luck with the new pump! My good friend has also been transitioning to a new pump. I'll have to tell her about your post! 💜
I wasn't expecting a fleshfest . 🤔
