The project: A month-long stint of pounding the fields and lanes of Sussex in my hapless and ill-advised attempt to complete a quintessentially English 5k race between two local pubs. Yes, a pint of beer awaits every finisher!
Dear Reader,
WOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!
(I’d been going to post a gleeful selfie below, but I’ve wimped out, choosing instead to use it only as the thumbnail for this post.)
What’s all the fuss about?
Only that I’ve run 4.5 km (half a kilometre short of the race distance) for the first time without stopping, apart from for two two-second moments to allow traffic to pass me. Our rural lanes around the village are only a car and a half wide, which means there’s room both for me and a car, but not for me and two cars passing each other in different directions.
Two tiny stops? Those don’t count, do they? They’re not the kind of stops I’ve been making up to now, put it that way. And at no point did I walk!
I put this song on to play while I was typing this. I think Freddie says it all!
See you tomorrow!
Love,
Rebecca

I needed to lie down after reading this, with an oxygen mask. I've come out in sympathy u see. Well done. Although if you were REALLY serious you wouldn't have stooped for the traffic. They don't stop in films or tv progs do they, apart from the keystone cops
Well done. You will be totally fine on the weekend. I’ve already decided I’ll be doing a brisk walk over here on the other side of the world, of a similar length but somewhat slower, just to share the good vibes with you. I’ll be aiming to complete my 5km in under an hour. I did 4km this afternoon at a 5.5km per hour rate, so we’re both well on track. Sending heaps of hugs and best wishes my dear. 🤗🤗😘
