The project: A month-long stint of pounding the fields and lanes of Sussex in my hapless and ill-advised attempt to complete a quintessentially English 5k race between two local pubs. Yes, a pint of beer awaits every finisher!
Dear Reader,
I apologise for the overplayed metaphor, but if you were suddenly unchained, untethered, off-the-leash and free as a bird for the first time in eight years, well, I expect you would be shouting about it too!
Now, I loved my old insulin pump. It brought me so much more freedom than my previous multiple daily injections (MDI) regimen. But yesterday I started on my new – tubeless – insulin pump, and although it’s early days it’s already making a huge difference to me not to be attached to a piece of hardware via a 70cm-long rubber hosepipe 23 hours and 541 minutes a day, seven days a week.
I don’t have anything to disconnect before I get into the shower.
There’s no tube to trip me up or wind itself around me overnight or get caught on any door handles I’m passing.
And – this one is most relevant to the Jog log 🏃🏻 – I don’t have to stuff the pump (and stow the hosepipe safely) into the pocket of my sports bra to go for a run.
I AM FREE.
With that in mind, I’ve just got back from a run. And golly gosh, I am FLYING.
Thank you for reading – I really appreciate you.
With so much love,
Rebecca xxx

Daily 6-minute shower, for which I would have to disconnect my old pump – which on a bad day would mess with my diabetes management for the next two hours.
I’m SO GLAD!!!! 😃😃😃👍👍👍💕💕💕
Rebecca! I am so happy for you that you are enjoying the tubeless journey 🎉 It sounds like it brought you some liberation!
My experience with the pods were sadly not as great 😭I tried it prior to my current tube pump, it was great for two days but then I would develop an allergic reaction to the pump cannula. Not gonna lie, I miss the freedom of not worrying about where to stuff the pump while running or unplugging to shower (then forgetting for an hour)!
