Thanks for the mention Rebecca! 😀 I have predicted a time but I won't tell you now. I don't want to put pressure on you. Or you might think I've guessed too high.
I hope your prediction takes into account that it's uphill nearly all the way, Matt! 😉 Having looked on the website for my past race times - all two of them - I'm utterly shocked to find that my first time was anything quite so fast! And I'm a whole six years older now. 🤣 But heck, I'm going to do my best, and have fun along the way!
All the runs I've done in the last month have been solo - I'm wondering (hoping?) whether being in company of others - all of them keen to do well, I'm sure! - will spur me on and speed me up? I've forgotten what it's like to be part of a crowd, so that should be fun!
Looking forward to reporting back tomorrow! I'd promised myself a pre-race early night - but somehow it's now 10.45pm and I'm still not asleep! 🤣
I'm happy to see that you made it! I was thinking about you today. I had looked up on the website to see what time it was taking place. I had to go into work early today, 4 am. I looked at the clock and thought, well she is just starting the race. Then I looked at the clock and it was 15 minutes later. I imagined you on your uphill trek.
All the way today I’d been thinking of the figure you’d given me for the average time for a beginner of my age, so I was really hoping - without great conviction! - that I’d make it in 39:39 or less. Deep down, though, I felt I’d be around the three quarters of an hour mark.
In actual fact I surprised myself no end by managing 37:43! 🤣
Thanks for supporting me in my journey to get there, Matt - I really appreciate it! 😊
I was afraid if I told you my number before the race, you might think I was crazy for thinking so high. But when you said it was uphill and you hadn't run in so long, I wasn't sure.
LOL - no, I wouldn't've thought you were crazy with that estimate - to be honest that's not far off where I thought I'd be!
Let's just say that I'm very surprised!
Yes - I shared the pint with Jim - it was delicious. It had been a while (pre-Covid, actually) since the last time I'd had a properly pulled pint of English real ale.
Yup, there's some truth in that! 🤣 Actually, though, I enjoyed the whole thing - and yes, I did claim my pint at the end! Link to the photographic evidence below:

I'm thrilled to say that I MADE IT, Matt! Do tell - what was your prediction? 🫣😊😁

My prediction was 48:31. 😀
Wow, that was an early start!

That is fantastic!

Did you drink the pint at the end?
Glad to support you! 👍

Anyone that runs on purpose, kudos! Happy race day.
Thanks, just mud! I HAD A BRILLIANT TIME OUT THERE THIS MORNING! 🥳
I read in a running book the best part is when you stop! Hope you got your pint! 🍺
