6.6 kph? Whoah! 1. How do you know? 2. That equates to just over 4 mph. That's good, especially as it's an average. Running's not for me though. Never bin any good at it. Cycling is MY thing. Plus I value my knees, I fond them quite useful. But well done, Becks. Fantastic!

LOL - the trick with kph, Terry, is that it sounds a lot faster than mph! 🀣 I like to measure walks and runs in kilometres, because my body and brain know what 5km feels like thanks to my previous Parkrun experience. I'm using the OS Maps app on my phone to record the data - I don't have one of those wearable thingummyjigglies (which would stress me out).

And thank you - that was half walking, half running - with a big ol' sprint (for about fourteen yards πŸ˜‰) in the middle there.

I've never been any good at running either - but gosh, I'm crazy about those endorphins! πŸ€ͺ

I didn't think of that! The 21.5mph I got to a few days ago sounds much better as 34.5kph. Must check out that OS map too!

Jim bought me the app for my birthday a couple of years ago - it's an annual subscription, but I wouldn't be without it now! If I'm heading out to get lost I'll input a route to follow, but if I haven't done that and I'm just wandering blindly through the landscape, if I've remembered to hit 'Record Activity' before I've set off it does at least tell me where I've been... πŸ˜‰

Oh, and if I've got the app running on my phone while I'm out and about, it'll tell me how far and how fast I've been.

I have an Apple Watch. Bliss. And I also don’t have diabetes. Double bliss. I’m a very lucky soul. And you’re incredibly disciplined. So you’ll absolutely have no issues with the 5km run.

Isn’t it crazy how we all know so much about our own little areas of expertise - narrow boats and diabetes for you and all the weird generic stuff I know for me. Grin. We’re all amazing in our own way, we just forget that sometimes. Another lovely update. Thanks so much. πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ˜˜πŸŒΌ

Giggle, giggle. I must admit I couldn’t think what I actually DO have expertise in when I wrote that. Thought of little things like helping everyone with all their phone and IT issues, and an interest in Australian botany (I’m a guide at our local Gardens), but they didn’t feel right, and they definitely don’t feel as interesting as expertise in Gin!! We’re all experts in our own ways. Hugs πŸ€—πŸ€—

Oh finally someone is talking about the balance between insulin and sugar. The weeks I run, I need ~15% less insulin. This is mind blowing to me and it shows more difference on the other side when I am sedentary due to more writing work during injury (which is the last 4 weeks basically). My TDD (total daily dose) varies between 38-42 but running brings it down to 32-35. I am amazed by our bodies

Thanks so much for this comment, OLR! I've just checked my own TDDs - I've gone from around 22-24u to 19-21u since I started moving a week and a bit ago - that's so interesting!
