We had such fun with this idea - I’m still thinking of more! I don’t know why I find ‘Ghostbuster’ so amusing - maybe because it’s a pretty tall order for just the one person to clear an entire city of spooks! 🤣
Love it, love it, love it. Happy sigh. The narrow boat jargon with locks (and quays?) and windlasses?? is all way over my head. But congratulations for learning so much from your amazing father. I adore the duck art. And the clog dancing. And the amended titles. Perfection. Another wonderful post. Thanks so much. 🤗🤗😘
I like your illustrations, as usual, both the drawing and the photos. I can see I'm going to have to draw a duck in my reply. Clog dancing: I've always preferred Pan's People myself, but still. All the fillums I like are unworkable in singular form, but I shall have a go. Nice idea!
Re: tolerating you. I regard it as an honour that you would wish to correspond with ME. The only other people who write are the taxman and my accountant.
Hmm, ok, I shall have to look at book titles. Although, tbh, my forte is in providing alternative (and in my opinion better) titles, such as:
Macbroth
Julius Cheeser
Omelette
Merchant of Venison
A Midsummer Night's Bream
All's well that cooks well
There are others, but I thought I'd just list the food-related ones for now. All of these are by some bloke called Billy Wagglestaff.
Ducks, clog dancing and canal boats! You write about the most interesting things, Rebecca. And I have certainly never heard the word de-pluralization! I loved the dancing video. Those are some serious shoes. And I had to look on line to learn more about Indian Runner ducks. Thanks for bringing back my own canal boating experiences, including the Ponsisilty Aqueduct (yeeeps!) Great memories. A thoroughly delightful read!
Thanks so much, Sharron! I'd never heard the word before, either, but had great fun reformatting those film titles!
Indian Runners are beautiful - the white ones look just like those tall old-fashioned milk bottles. Someone once told me that he thought they looked as if they were standing with their hands behind their backs! They're used for training sheepdogs, believe it or not, because they're easy to steer from behind. I had fun with that myself, too - I'd walk behind them with my arms out, and if I want to them to move to the right I'd wave my left hand, and vice versa. Fascinating creatures!
The aqueduct on the Llangollen Canal? We hired a boat on the Llangollen when I was around 20, starting at Chirk (where there is also an aqueduct). Absolutely mind-blowing! Looking down from the boat over the side WITHOUT the towpath - ye Gods....!!!!! https://www.pontcysyllte-aqueduct.co.uk
Here's a great song to play for the next time you see some ducks

The singular movie title game was hilarious! 😃
That’s brilliant, Punit - thank you! 😊
Crow a collective noun for murder (fun game though)?
Actually, it’s the other way round!
A murder of crows = lots of crows.

Beth, you're so kind - thank you so much! 😊😘😁

Thanks so much, Terry! I really enjoyed writing this letter to you - thank you for tolerating me as a correspondent! 🤣
There are plenty of book titles, of course, awaiting similar treatment. I'm sure you've got tonnes of those you could depluralise....! 🤣
A Man in a Boat. Lord of the Fly. White Tooth. Normal Person...

Great duck art!
I also wonder how you two never fell in to the drink when you were jumping back onto the boat. That sounds like a risky move to do that.
Wow! Rain looks the same over there as it does here. 🤣
Another informative post that I truly enjoyed Rebecca.
Thanks, Matt - I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for always reading! 😊
