I love Writer Rebecca’s dreams! I used to be a cafe writer, but these days I find I focus so much better at home! Might also be that I’m a bit too arranged to ny cat post-Covid 😹
Also: “the ouliphant in the room”!!! I literally lol’d.
You're so right - I haven't yet re-engineered myself back to pre-Covid days either! I spent a couple of hours in town this morning IN ACTUAL SHOPS and had a cup of coffee in a real-life cafe - blimey, I felt like a newborn child....! Clueless! 🤣
Very interesting, Becks. I shall respond in due course, but just for now I should like to say thanks for linking to a couple of posts of mine and for your kind words. I have a question: does the tree stump you mention have a socket to plug a laptop in? If not, what's the point of it? 😂
Thanks, Terry! I haven't ever tried to plug my laptop into the stump - but as far as charging my phone is concerned, I carry a tiny battery pack and cable with me for that purpose.
*coughs*
In response to your question: 'What's the point of it?' do please consider that tree stumps can play more than just the one role for the long-distance walker. 👀😳🤣
Not a clue, but a suggestion: extrapolate the clue about the first sentence and relate it to the second, third, fourth, fifth etc etc etc sentence. Then have another look at the title!
Okay, I'll stop! This Roman puzzle is exhausting! 🤣
Wow! So many interesting things here, Rebecca. The yellow duck story was hilarious. Terry's three cafes story again proves that there are stories EVERYWHERE. And I will watch the movie you suggested. Looks like fun. Your treasure seekers puzzle, however, is too hard for the likes of me, but I look forward to seeing the solution! Thanks for an entertaining morning.
Thanks so much, Sharron! I was pleased to have found that giant duck news story - Terry and his potholes are clearly going viral! 🤣

I believe J K Rowling started her writing career in cafes, she might even have been homeless I seem to recall. It didn’t do her any harm so keep dreaming!
Loved the giant duck, we have plenty of potholes here but none big enough for that and of course they are all devoid of water at the moment.
Gosh, I remember that she used to write in cafes, yes! I don't think she was homeless, but I think she was savvy enough to write in places where heating came as standard.
LOL re potholes - the sparrows are using the potholes in the lane as dustbaths at the moment! This heatwave has hit us - and them - rather unawares, I'm afraid!
Lovely large teapots of good tea (from tea leaves) are a dying breed unfortunately. Thankfully I still know of one place in my little village that can keep me occupied for an hour with a good pot of tea. I take an iPad, a copy of the local (free) newspaper and occasionally a little notebook and pen. The Good Life.
Another most enjoyable read, although I’ve ended up reading it in three sections, so all I can recall is the wonderful Cafe scenario and the huge rubber Duckie! Best way there is to try crossing that ‘puddle’... Thanks so much.
We writers write down our ideas at all kinds of different places. My next post is going to be an interesting one about being in a waiting room. I can't say anymore though. 🤐
BONUS CLUE: Maybe try extrapolating clue 3 across the rest of the story. Second word of second sentence, third word of third sentence… etc!
Okay, I'll pipe down now. Over to YOU, treasure seekers!

Yes, Becks does a great line in neologisms.
Thanks so much, Jillian!

Yes. I have been known to climb on a stump and make a rousing speech to passers-by.
🤣
I love yours and Terry's letters. I feel like such a voyeur! It's quite exciting...

He writes in a special cafe and always has a great big french pastry and coffee on the side.
Ooooh fab - thanks, Prue!
And thank you for such a kind comment about our letters - I really enjoying writing to Terry (and I mostly 😉 enjoy it when he writes back!) 🤣
Rebecca, So generous with the clues...yet still clueless! LOL Great letter to Terry today.
Thank you so much, Julie!

"Buckles being swashed" I love it!
🤣 Thanks, Jim! 🤣

I used to love going to read/write in cafes and bars pre-pandemic...maybe I’ll try that more this summer! Or drinks on patios, while writing...
Okay. I’m going to tackle your puzzle again!
Drinks on patios while writing - yes yes yes yes YES, Alison!!! Right there with you!!!

That sounds like a gorgeous - and well-stocked with tea! - setting in which to write, Beth! How wonderful. 😊
Great letter Rebecca!

Thanks so much, Matt! I'm already looking forward to (waiting!) for your waiting room post! You always tell a great story! 😊
