Oh, I’m so jealous of your ability to use historic homes and gardens as travel rest stops! I’ve only visited Britain twice, and was so sad that I couldn’t see more of them— and you get to use them as rest areas! I guess we in the US do have rest areas in some astonishingly beautiful natural areas, but I’m still jealous of the historic homes.

Those kinds of puzzles just cause my little grey cells to implode. No can do!! But I just loved. your question to Terry: "Why can’t you just solve these clues yourself rather than getting me to do them for you, hmm?"

I love your crossword stories , Rebecca! My husband memorized the Jabberwocky poem early on, and occasionally recites it, to my delight. Also, butter and sugar sandwiches came up in your story. My great grandmother was from England. My grandmother used to make butter and sugar sandwiches on white bread for me, as well. Didn’t do much for my girlish figure, but I loved them! Thanks for another enjoyable post, Rebecca!

Some very high-brow stuff in ‘ere. Smirk. My brain hurts! But yes, congratulations are most definitely in order. And your heat? An elderly friend recently returned to England after many years. She’s so bemused by the so-called ‘heatwaves’ over there. Typical summer days to someone who’s spent so many years in Australia. (She too commented on the change of weather yesterday. It makes me feel so close to you!) Another lovely read. Thanks so much. 🤗🤗

I'm going to try the baseball hat in the freezer trick, as I believe we might be days or weeks away from regular triple digit days. An icy hat might be just the thing! Loved this post, RH, and especially giddy for you wearing SHORTS!

I agree with Sharron - those puzzles are constipating! You and Terry are amazing to think them through.

Glad the weather changed - even if momentarily.
