As the oldest child in my family and a type-A girl, besides, I always had to be the one to look out for everything. This followed me into my work and it was wearing me out to always feel responsible for everyone. Hah! My therapist ( yes, I had a therapist) said to me " Sharron, if you don't do it, someone else will. They won't do it as well as you do it, and that's okay." Man, she just set me free with the last part of that. Thanks for a great letter. I love to read over your shoulder.
Love this letter to Terry, RH! "Always do your best and think of those coming behind you" is a paraphrase of what we (5 kids in the fam) were taught on how to approach housework, homework, any kind of work. Poor little egg, and good for you for thinking on how to solve the issue of the cup swallowing up the egg before you could get to it. RE: wrong words and right words and their order, reminded me of a French Canadian dance teacher I had about 28 years ago, who said in a group dance lesson, "Throw me across the room my hat". That's a fav to this day. 😁
Thanks, Mary! I like that phrase, and often use something similar - ‘leave it as you would wish to find it’. I think of that a great deal when using campsite washrooms! I always mop the floor of my cubicle, and leave it nice for the next person, and if the one next door is a disgrace, well, I’ll do that too.
I was having a shower at the last campsite we stayed at, and there were funny noises coming from another cubicle. Its inhabitant had come in after me, and left before me, so I didn’t see her, but the evidence showed that she had been showering her DOG.* There was soooooo much detergent foam in there, and it smelled absolutely terrible, and it was a right mess. I cleared up as best as I could - and am going to admit right now that although I’m glad it was then nice for the next person, my reason for clearing up was more for my sake than anybody else’s, because I didn’t want anybody who saw me leaving the shower block thinking that it had been ME who’d left it in such a state!
*Every club campsite has a dog shower OUTSIDE. There was no excuse at all for the lady’s behaviour!
Good for you for cleaning up after that lady and her dog! I relate to that 100%! Imagine the reason for not using the outdoor dog shower - I can't think of a reasonable reason for doing so. Way to go, Rebecca.

Having responsibility is such a big responsibility, right? And hurrah for being set free!
It’s lovely to have you reading over my shoulder. These letters to Terry bring me such joy! x

I love the message from the child to their art teacher!! I was a blank piece of paper but you gave me colour!! Just imagine receiving that. Lovely.
It was the cutest thing I’d seen that day, Beth! Absolutely wonderful. And such a young child, too, judging by the handwriting. Glorious! x
