I love chickens! Happy Easter, Rebecca.

Thank you so much, Mark! They're terrific creatures, aren't they?

Hope you and BGB had a happy Easter! 🐣

Your bathtime chocolate eggs remind me of the famous Australian habit of biting opposite corners off a Tim Tam biscuit then sipping your hot cuppa THROUGH the biscuit. You then pop the hot melty chocolate Tim Tam into your mouth and let it explode / dissolve. Absolute BLISS!!! Happy sigh.

I also love chickens. We had beautiful black Australorps who would go broody at the drop of a hat, so they’d be placed in the dreaded wire-bottomed cage poor things until they got over the urge. I love the clucky chatter of chooks. So friendly and comforting.

Enjoy your Easter break dear Rebecca. Sending heaps of hugs and best wishes.

Ooooooooh, I've just had to Google Tim Tam biscuits, Beth - yummy!!! They look rather like a McVitie's Penguin biscuits over here, and now I'm absolutely kicking myself for not knowing about the corner thing! I'VE MISSED OUT ON SOOOOOOOO MUCH! 😭

I love the name 'Australorp' - I've just done an image search and they're a similar shape to the Buff Orpingtons that I know - presumably that's where the '-orp' of the name comes from!

'Clucky chatter of chooks' - what a fantastic expression! Brilliant!

Hope you had a really lovely Easter! We've been having a fun and busy time with family, and it's been great. 😊

Thank you so much for reading! 😊

Precious story! 🍫🥚 I’ve been enjoying creating some little family traditions of our own and look forward to see what sticks as the years go by!

"they wouldn’t think twice about flying over fences and hedges and roosting as high as their courage allowed." This, Rebecca, is my new motto! I want to roost as high as my courage will take me! Loved this version of the wonderful hens and eggs story. You are a storyteller par excellence. Also, I'm in the 20% group of biting straight through. My favorite thing about Cadbury eggs is the day *after* Easter, they're 50% off in our grocery stores. I used to scoop them up, chop them up, and fold the bits into cookie batter instead of using chocolate chips. All of that melted goodness encased in a cookie! Yum! Happy Easter to you and your Jim, your family, and the hens, too. P.S. Love the idea of eating the eggs in the bath. ❤️🥚

Ah, you're a bite-straight-through-er - huge respect to you for that, Mary!!! I can imagine that you're a Band-Aid non-prevaricator, too - that you rip off the plaster without even flinching! 🙌

What a great idea to snap up eggs for 50% off to chop up to use as an insaaaaaaaaaaanely excellent chocolate chip equivalent! Hope you and your Jim had a very happy Easter and that you're indulging in delicious post-Easter Easter egg-chip cookies right now! 😊😊😊

Aha! You got it right about me being the Band-Air ripper offer. That's me! and my Jim! 😅 Get right to it, that's our motto. There was little 50% Easter candy left at HEB yesterday - we were late to that party. However, I found white chocolate peanut butter eggs for one of my co-workers who pops them like peanuts, one after the other. I'm going to surprise him and put them on his keyboard this morning before he arrives. https://www.hersheyland.com/products/reeses-white-creme-peanut-butter-eggs-1-2-oz-6-pack.html

P.S. We had a lovely Easter, thank you.😊 Hope you and your Jim did, too.

The four new hens are gorgeous, Rebecca. What a tribe! I have known hens to be quite friendly . My neighbor had an older, very fat yellow-brown hen that would gladly jump in my lap and settle down for a snooze, just like a cat. I loved the feel of the warm feathers and that fat little bird body under my hand. Thanks so much for bringing this lovely post back - and for reminding me of the best way to devour a Cadbury egg. You never fail to lift my spirits.

Oh Sharron, I love the sound of your neighbour's hen - she sounds adorable!

Thank you so much for reading this story again - I'm so pleased that it raised your spirits.

Hugs and hens from across the pond to you! 🤗🐓

This post of yours will ALWAYS be one of my favorites. Because, chickens! Not to mention tiny Rebecca. I can't love Cadbury eggs, I'm afraid, but I do love the idea of tiny, tub-loving Rebecca trying to slurp them up before they melt!

I am so pleased to know others, like you, with whom I share a love of ancestry, place, and the stories that come with both. Thank you for linking to my recent post! Enjoy your [busy] holiday, Rebecca.

Oh, how lovely - thank you, Elizabeth! I'm with you - I haven't had a Creme Egg for absolute yonks (they're not exactly compatible with my type 1 diabetes!), but they were certainly fun to eat before that!

I loved your post, and was so happy to link it - such a pleasure! xxx

I wish I lived somewhere outside of the city so I could have hens! Happy Easter, Rebecca!

Awww, happy Easter, Jillian! I'm very lucky that I have visiting rights to my parents' hens, although I'm not a keeper of them myself. They (neither the hens, nor indeed my parents) seem to mind that I'm not around full-time - in fact, certainly in the case of the latter, they're probably pretty glad about that! 😉

What an Easter Morning treat! I didn’t get a chance to read your post yesterday, so here I sit this morning at 5-ish a.m. delighting in your Cadbury Egg eating process. What a sweet story!! And I just love the new gals! It makes me miss having chickens more and more. I’d not read this story before. And I sheepishly have to admit that I don’t recall ever having eaten a Cadbury egg. You can bet though, that after today, when I go to the store and find all the Easter candy on sale, I shall have to purchase one at the discounted price. I’m sure it won’t affect the flavor being a day past its prime. However I think I shall savor it in an evening bath. 🤗❤️

Oh Gail, thank you so much! ☺️

I don't think you're missing terribly much if you haven't had a Creme Egg - I haven't eaten one for years, and the last one I had gave me toothache. Fondant filling that sweet ought to be against the law..... 👮‍♀️🤣
