I know of the red thread legend! I wrote a whole fantasy with the legend at its base and which was published last year. Funnily, it was called The Red Thread.
In Asian culture, itβs believed there is an unseen red thread that connects those who are destined to meet and fall in love. In China, Yue Lao, the God of Fate, is the deity who decides to whom the red threads will be attached. The people joined by the thread will always connect, in spite of anything that might happen. As was evidenced by you and Jim.
I think that's exciting - to see a legend proved! Happy Valentine's to you both. Sending a big hug. XXXX
Oh yes, of course, Prue! And thank you so much for reminding me about it - the hard copy has been my wishlist in my journal, but I'm looking to find it more locally than having to have it shipped internationally. I'm going to be grabbing it on Kindle the second I have finished my current read - which, with an astonishing connection of its own, is called 'The Spool of Blue Thread'!
Happy Valentine's to you too, Prue! And to the Terrier (whom I hope is making a good recovery from his tummy ache!). π
Theoretically The Red Thread could be ordered through Amazon.co.uk for the same price as others across the globe. It's the cheapest way to do it. Mind you - Kindle is the absolute cheapest. ;)
Thanks, Prue - Iβll have another look later when Iβm back at my desk. My last look had told me that it would ship from the States - I was looking to save it some air miles! Iβll report back - thanks so much. X
A delightful story, Becks. One that would make me go all gooey inside if I was the going gooey type. π It's so interesting how things join up, isn't it
Oh Terry, firstly: thank you; secondly: I think you're kidding me - I'm certain you're just hiding the fact that you're a card-carrying member of the 'going gooey' tribe! π
What a beautiful story and painting. Life definitely has threads running through it. Is there such a thing as destiny? Certainly in yourβs Jimβs casevβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Oh Jo, thank you very much! It's amazing that these connections are out there, isn't it? I was amazed after I met Jim at the number of things we had in common, too (and not just us both being so tall!) which tells me a lot about how we were meant to get together! π
Years later - and I still regret leaving it behind! - I came across Jim's applicant card when I was in the archive filing room at work. We'd long since met and were very much together, and I could barely breathe when I had that yellow card in my hands again. Yellow for 'local applicant' - my bestest handwriting (that was the rule: colleagues had to be able to read these things at a glance) - and THAT email address, 'Jimpix@.....'! π€£
And now you simply HAVE to stream the Oscar nominee Past Lives, which hinges on the ancient idea of in-yun. It posits that people almost literally brush up against one another through their past lives, and that people destined to marry brush 8,000 times, in the past, before they meet and know that this time theyβre a pair. My wife and I know that our people (Stewarts, MacCraes) were murdering one another 300 years ago. Glad we got over it!
Oh Rebecca, what a beautiful love story and your mixed media is perfect to go with your words. I love the heart. Happy day to you both...and thank you for the smiles.

I guess I'm the gooey type, Terry!

All the best people are, Mark! π
Yeah. Me too.
KNEW it!!!! #kindredspirits
Oh Terry, firstly: thank you; secondly: I think you're kidding me - I'm certain you're just hiding the fact that you're a card-carrying member of the 'going gooey' tribe! π
Madam, that is a scandalous statement. The fact that it's true doesn't make it less so π€
π€ *giggles* π€
Ahah!
One of these days he's going to give too much away, isn't he, Sharron? I'm making notes.... here's what I've got so far:
1. Drinks the wrong kind of tea
2. Likes cats
3. Is a 'going gooey' type despite claims to the contrary...
Right you are! And, after this morning's post, you can add: He knows what it is to be a King Bee.
....or thinks he does! π
(JOKING!!!!!!!!!)
Breathtakingly lovely. Simply.
Thank you, Mark - so kind! π

Ah I love this! How wonderful that you and Jim found each other again and again - and everyone was right!
Thanks, Alison!!

Wish I'd shoved it into my back pocket. Darn!
This! Delightful and lovely.
Awwww, thank you very much, Sally! π

Oooh Peter, I'll have to check it out! I have to say though, that all that past-brushing sounds EXHAUSTING.......! π
Ooof. 8000 brushes and no nookie. Thatβs a lot of forbearance! The movie is sweet and slow and filled with yearning, if you like that sort of thing.
I'll give it a go! I'm not much of a yearner, though... π€£
When I tell you I squealed reading thisβ¦π₯Ήπ©·
This is some proper Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan business. π
Awwww! Thanks, Bryn! π
PS: Jim has just asked me to make it clear that he looks nothing like Meg Ryan. π€£
(I've told him that he's rather missed the point!!!)
