I'll reply next week, but just so you know: our feline residents sleep in luxury quarters inside. We sit on top of them, thereby obviating the need for cushions.
One of my cats is slowly but surely becoming a lap cat. Actually, even more than a lap. She has recently begun finding her way to me a few times a night to lay on whatever portion of my body is facing up. Sometimes she's on my stomach, other times my back, but most often on my side??? I can't imagine that it's very comfortable, but she seems quite content there.
Fortunately I'm too young to remember the incident in my own right, Sharron, but the story horrifies me whenever I hear it! Thank you so much for reading and commenting! ♥️
"Leaving aside the fact that you clearly ought to frequent tea rooms rather than coffee shops – because the clue’s in the name, Terry" Well said Rebecca. It's akin to ordering a salad at McDonalds, I imagine.
I need to channel my inner Edna! I think 'QuikTea' is like an instant chai latte kind of thing, so I guess it has a place in the tea canister for someone who doesn't want to hot-foot it down to the nearest coffee shop... but I have to say I'd still plump for 'proper' tea, given the choice!
Baby mice in the cutlery drawer! Shudder! It was bad enough when a mouse threw my stapler across the floor the other night! (I am trying very hard not to imagine what else it might have been to have the strength to push the heavy stapler off the middle tray of a trolley and have it land two feet across the floor!! I left the door to the garage open and barricaded myself in my bedroom and thankfully whatever it was appears to have left the premises.!)
There are some strange ‘tea’ infusions around. I haven’t seen that particular one, but I won’t be checking my supermarket in the hope of finding it.
And 107!! And looking amazing. A good appetite and a love of tea eh? Looks like I’m in the running then.
Thanks so much for brightening my week. (And yay, looks like I’m just about caught up with my Substack reading!)
Goodness me, Beth - I'm sorry to hear about your stapler-flinging mouse - that would have frightened me to death! 👀 You're so brave!
The 'QuikTea' reminded me of the 'Zitronentee' my German au-pair kids used to take to school - it looked rather like instant coffee, but it was made from powdered sugar, tea and lemon extract - it was unbelievably sweet, and could be drunk either hot or cold. I would tip a few teaspoons of it into their flasks in the morning and top it up with hot water, job done.
I'm happy to be back on track following my favorite Substack writers, having spent the last few weeks catching up on all that I was behind on... which was a lot! Glad to see your colorful banter hasn't changed in my absence. 💜
I've been following your stories of such a busy time, Sue - and reading this comment has reminded me that I'd been saving up your latest wedding report to read. Well, I've just read it, and it's awesome! Sharing it here for others reading this comment: https://waywardyogini.substack.com/p/monday-morning-cup-of-thoughts-bf5
I was laughing out loud wondering if the cats would make it to 'tin-o'clock'. How do you come up with these things Rebecca?! I checked with my cat and apparently it's universal cat lingo, she seemed to fully grasp tin-o'clock.

I was so relieved to read that line. Being a crass American, I wasn't certain you weren't going to side with Mr. Test-tea.
I meant to comment on a previous post that this whole ongoing exchange brings to mind the silly song my kids brought home one summer. Clearly meant for coffee drinkers (which I am generally not) it has been a recurrent earworm ever since. You surely know it already. This is a fun variation on the original (starts at about 2:45), happily omitting the parts that blame the slave, servant, or wife, depending on how far back you go with the lyrics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d61EKXPocWU
I'm inspired to draw so many things from this letter to Terry, mostly mice-related with tea thrown in somewhere. I love your description of my tea inventory discovery, too. 😅. I read the letter, and am typing this response, with my first cup of morning coffee in hand, adjusting to the time change at 6:27 a.m. The great advantage for the time change for me: I'll be riding to work in semi-daylight instead of first-light conditions. Only 47 more days until the Winter Solstice. https://www.rmg.co.uk/stories/topics/when-winter-solstice-shortest-day
Mary, thank you for that fabulous link - I've learned loads!
When the clocks changed over here it was lovely to know that I'd be getting an extra hour in bed! We get up pretty early anyway, and needless to say our body clocks woke us up at our normal 'old' time, which made for a pretty long day that first Sunday! 🤣
I'm so glad it's going to make a difference for your journey to work, at least for a little while.
So glad that my post has inspired your art! I'm sure that mice love tea - as we know, they're not averse to hanging around in kitchen drawers, so maybe they love the stuff just as much as we do?! 🤣
You're welcome, and same here about a long Sunday! Jim's cooking and baking bread, I'm rugging, and we're planning our bike ride for mid-afternoon. Seems we have so much time on our hands! Can't wait to draw mice, and yes, they love hanging around kitchen drawers, closets, cupboards, etc. 😄
LOL! Now I’m intrigued about those tea/mice/cat-related flashbacks...! 🤣
👀
are you a man or a mouse? don't answer that
exactly!
you must tell us what these flashbacks are of!!
😁

Mee-ouch! 😁

I'm always worried that I'm going to roll on top of mine and suffocate her, but she always seems to be able to squeeze out!
Yes, they have a way of staying safe, thank goodness. 💜
I loved the mice-in-the-drawer story. I can just see those near-bald little thing scurrying in all directions. Great letter, Rebecca!

🤣 Thanks, Jim!
LOL Good analogy, Jim
Edna!! What’s her secret? Quik tea? Is that like the Nescafé of teas? This is the second mouse story I’ve heard today. Ugh. Hope it’s not a sign.

Ugh indeed to mice! 🐁
And I just read a third story about a mouse today. Mice come in threes?
They come in waaaaaaay more than threes! Ask the Swedish au-pair....! 🤣
hahahaha
Another fun read.

Oh, thanks so much Rebecca! I just read your post about plants, and will respond in kind by sharing it here for others to read. The photos and artwork are stunning! https://rebeccaholden.substack.com/p/105-no-passion-for-plants?utm_source=profile&utm_medium=reader2
Awww, thanks, Sue! 😘
will have a look
I have matured greatly in the interim. I should like to be able to say the same for Rebecca.
🤣
As always, this was a fun read!
So kind, Julie - thank you! 😊

LOL, Donna! Those feline friends of ours know what's what, don't they?! 🤣
Sending love your way. ♥️🕊️☀️
In my household it's ALWAYS tin-o'clock

Thanks for the fun!
LOL, Elizabeth - that chap with the manilla envelope was a real idiot! 🤣 (And so was my boss!)
I've played that song - thank you so much! Really enjoyed it - I hadn't heard it before, and it really made me laugh. 😊
